First time here? Start with the basics.
The Big Sister Foundation (BSF) platform is a website where you can see exactly how the foundation works — where money goes, which children are being supported, what ideas the community has, and how you can get involved. Everything is transparent and open.
The platform has 13 pages:
The navigation bar at the top of every page lets you move between sections. It's always visible, even when you scroll down.
Find the navigation bar
It's the dark green bar at the very top of the page. It stays there even when you scroll.
Click on any page name
Click "Scholars" to see supported children, "Ledger" to see finances, "Events" for upcoming activities, "Volunteer" to apply, or "Give" to donate.
Click "Big Sister Foundation" to go home
The logo on the left always takes you back to the main homepage.
Discover more pages in the footer
Scroll to the bottom of any page to find links to additional sections including Forums, Ideas, Donations tracker, Blog, and Sponsor pages.
The platform has three levels of access. Most features are open to everyone with no account required.
| Role | What You Can Do |
|---|---|
| Public (no account) | View ledger, view scholars, vote on ideas, read/post/reply on forums, apply to volunteer, donate, RSVP to events, read blog |
| Volunteer (signed in) | All public features + submit new ideas, add ledger entries, edit own content |
| Admin | All volunteer features + edit/delete all content, manage volunteers (approve/reject), manage scholars and schools, bulk operations, audit log, export data to CSV |
The front door to the foundation. Our story and mission.
The homepage tells the story of the Big Sister Foundation through marketing content and an animated tree that grows as you scroll down the page. The tree serves as a metaphor for growth and impact.
Watch the tree grow
As you scroll down the homepage, an animated tree grows from seeds into a full canopy. Each stage represents the foundation's growth: seeds (potential), sprout (early support), trunk (stability), branches (expanding reach), and canopy (full impact). Just scroll at your own pace and watch it unfold.
Read about the mission
The page tells the story of BSF: who we are, what we do, and the children we support. Scroll through each section to learn more.
Take action with the CTA buttons
The homepage has prominent call-to-action buttons: Donate takes you to the payment page, Volunteer takes you to the application, and Explore lets you browse the rest of the platform.
Propose ideas and vote on what BSF should do next.
Voting is the simplest way to support an idea you care about. Anyone can vote — no account needed.

The BSF platform is not a collection of separate pages — everything is connected.
Every page on the BSF platform feeds into others. Here's how data flows between them:
When you donate on the Give page, Paystack processes the payment. On success, the transaction is automatically recorded on the public ledger and appears in the donations tracker with a generated receipt.
When you apply on the Volunteer page, your application goes to Admin for review. If approved, you're directed to Volunteer Registration with onboarding steps. Once onboarded, you can submit ideas and add ledger entries.
Community members vote on ideas. When an idea gets traction, admins change its status through Planned, In Progress, and finally Completed.
Scholar expenses (school fees, food, healthcare) connect to ledger entries. Spending on a scholar appears in both their investment breakdown and the public ledger.
The Admin Dashboard manages all content across the platform. Every action is tracked in the audit log for full accountability.
